Starting October 1st, 2025, the Department of Diagnostics and Differential Psychology at the University of Freiburg (Prof. Dr. Janina Bühler) is seeking two postdoctoral researchers (Akademische Rät*innen) to join their team.

In the Department of Diagnostics and Differential Psychology, we investigate systematic patterns and processes of personality development and personality-context transactions, with a focus on life events and romantic relationship dynamics. The assessment methods include longitudinal experience sampling studies. Another research focus is the investigation of romantic partner interactions in a laboratory context, including video-based behavior coding.

Your responsibilities

• Planning, conducting and publishing the above-mentioned research in international journals and presenting the findings at scientific conferences
• Teaching courses in the B.Sc. and M.Sc. psychology programs as assigned by the division, amounting to 4 semester hours per week
• Supervision of student qualification theses (B.Sc. and M.Sc. theses) and guidance of student assistants and interns
• Support in setting up and managing the behavioral laboratory
• Participation in university self-administration
• The independent acquisition of third-party funding (e.g., DFG) is desired and supported

• Qualified doctoral degree in psychology
• Meticulous way of working and strong team spirit
• Profound methodological knowledge in the field of longitudinal experience sampling studies
• Excellent statistical skills
• Experience in teaching courses relevant to the department
• Very good English and German skills (or willingness to acquire them)
• Interest in media communication
• Civil servant requirement must be fulfilled
