Your Responsibilities
- Plant Operations: Supporting onboard teams to ensure the safe, reliable, energy-efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of all ventilation, cooling systems, and refrigerated equipment.
- Inspections and Reporting: Conducting regular inspections to establish a high-quality baseline of HVAC-R systems, detecting potential deficiencies early, and proposing corrective actions. Preparing inspections for HVAC-R projects planned during dry-dock or operational periods.
- Project Supervision: Leading HVAC-R projects as on-site manager during operation and dry dock.
- Training and Development: Identifying training opportunities for onboard HVAC teams, providing instructions and demonstrations, and delivering both hands-on and theoretical training on technical systems and management tools.
- Reporting: Regularly reporting statuses, findings, and proposals to the office, and sharing reports with the Chief Engineer and HVAC Engineer.
Your Profile
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent, focusing on Refrigeration, Ventilation mechanics, and automation.
- Licenses and Certificates: Relevant safety certificates for onboard personnel, F-Gas certificate (unlimited).
- Experience: Several years in an officer role operating large HVAC and cooling systems on cruise ships or ferries; land-side experience in design, construction, or operation of such systems is advantageous.
- Skills: Strong understanding of HVAC and cooling systems, including electrical and electronic components, with excellent hands-on skills. Experience with computer-based management and procurement systems, and the ability to grasp unfamiliar systems easily.
- Qualities: Team player, service and result-oriented, willing to travel, able to work under pressure, open to sharing knowledge, and capable of providing clear instructions and training.
- Communication: Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential; Italian and/or German skills are a plus.
