Join a leading waste and recycling haulage business as a Transport Manager/Planner! This role is crucial for managing a large transport operation across Southern England. An opportunity to join an established waste and recycling haulage business, a first class experienced Transport Manager / Planner is sought to take responsibility for a large transport operation across southern England. You will be responsible for all aspects of the routing and scheduling of our lorries, and be involved in continuous improvements across the Company.
You will be working in a busy office – the position entails responding to customer requests, planning and managing all routes, collections and deliveries, liaising with the drivers and ensuring all jobs are kept to schedule – rerouting where necessary.
We are looking for a high calibre candidate with excellent people skills, sound transport experience and the ability to work effectively in pressurised situations.
The successful candidate will have:-
·a CPC qualification desirable
·PC literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
·previous routing/scheduling experience within a busy transport office essential (minimum 3 years preferable) – full loads
·demonstrate experience within a similar position
·knowledge of logistics, road transport operations and the motorway systems
·excellent communication skills over the telephone, e-mail and face to face with both drivers and customers
·able to work under pressure
·ability to work on own initiative as well as being a good team player
·good geographical knowledge of Southern England
·the ability to manage fleet maintenance to comply with statutory requirements and Company policies
·adhere to WTD and Driver’s Hours legislation
·flexible approach to working hours
Salary to be agreed dependent on experience and hours worked.
