Über uns Operations is the beating heart of Amazon. This key part of our business makes sure we fulfil and dispatch orders efficiently so that our customers get their items on time. As a Transportation Area Manager, you will be a responsible and accountable leader for a team of associates in a cluster within Germany. You will own the operations and engagement of your shift with the aim to optimize associates' experience and performance, focusing on safety, load planning, and efficiency.

This team is entrepreneurial, wears many hats, and works in a highly collaborative environment. TAP scope includes executing Over the Road journeys (middle mile linehaul) and Shunting with Amazon Associates, who are trained to become fully qualified TAP Drivers (TD). Key responsibilities include safeguarding your team's safety, ensuring engagement and high performance, working with cross-functional teams, maintaining process quality, and driving process improvements. You will also support the rollout of new systems and processes, monitor metrics, ensure fleet and driver compliance, and travel within your cluster.

A typical day involves managing your team, overseeing operations, implementing process improvements, and mentoring new managers. Working schedules may vary across day, mid, and night shifts, including weekends, due to operational needs.

Location & Business travel include traveling across four Amazon facilities in Dortmund, with time split between the office and sites. Flexibility is required to start and finish work from different locations as needed.

Grundqualifikationen

• Relevant experience in leading large-scale transport operations within a growing business.
• People management experience.
• A degree.
• Valid Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
• Experience with performance metrics and process improvement.
• Ability to develop scalable solutions independently.
• Proficiency in English and German, both written and verbal.

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

• Master’s Degree or similar in Operations Research, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields.
• Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons.
• Experience with a Commercial road haulage permit within the Transport industry.
