Über uns Operations is the beating heart of Amazon. This key part of our business makes sure we fulfil and dispatch orders efficiently so that our customers get their items on time.

As a Transportation Area Manager, you will be a responsible and accountable leader for a team of associates in a cluster within Germany. You will own the operations and engagement of your shift, aiming to optimize associates' experience and performance in conjunction with load planning and efficiency, with a focus on safety.

This team is entrepreneurial, wears many hats, and works in a highly collaborative environment. TAP scope includes executing Over the Road journeys (middle mile linehaul) and Shunting with Amazon Associates who are trained to become fully qualified TAP Drivers (TD). The TAP mission is to provide a safe, sustainable, profitable, and best-in-class transport operation that supports Amazon’s growth while offering career opportunities. The team is expanding rapidly in the German network, providing new opportunities within management and transportation industries.

The team will spend time between the office (in central Dortmund, 1-2 days/week) and 4 sites within the DTM cluster (DTM1, DTM2, DTM9, PAD1), with travel expenses reimbursed. Full onboarding and training will be provided, including travel to the UK for shadowing and development.

Key job responsibilities

1. Safeguard your team’s safety: Promote Amazon’s Health and Safety standards, ensure compliance, and create a safe work environment.
2. Engage and motivate your team: Foster a culture of ownership and high performance.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
4. Maintain process quality standards: Continuously improve and streamline processes, identify root causes.
5. Solve problems practically: Find simple, effective solutions without sacrificing quality.
6. Manage projects analytically: Support system and process rollouts, gather feedback.
7. Monitor and report metrics: Communicate daily performance and exceptions.
8. Ensure fleet and driver compliance: Active monitoring and reporting.
9. Travel within your cluster.

A day in the life

You’ll work in shifts at one of our sites, focusing on safety, quality, and performance. Your role includes managing your team, process improvements, and operational contingency tasks. You will also mentor new managers.

Working Schedules

Facilities operate 24/7, and schedules may vary across day, mid, and night shifts, including weekends. Flexibility is required.

Location & Business travel

You will travel across 4 Amazon facilities in Dortmund (DTM1, DTM2, DTM9, PAD1), splitting time between the office and sites. Flexibility to start and end your day at different locations is essential.

Grundqualifikationen
