As a Transportation Area Manager, you will be a responsible and accountable leader for a team of associates in a cluster within Germany. You will own the operations and engagement of your shift, aiming to optimize associates' experience and performance in conjunction with load planning and efficiency, with a focus on safety.
This team is entrepreneurial, wears many hats, and works in a highly collaborative environment. The TAP scope involves executing Over the Road journeys (middle mile linehaul) and Shunting with Amazon Associates who are trained to become fully qualified TAP Drivers (TD). The role requires working between the office in central Dortmund (1-2 days/week) and 4 sites within the DTM cluster (3-4 days/week). Mileage reimbursement is provided. Full onboarding and training will be offered, including shadowing in the UK with expenses covered.
Your day will include team management, operational responsibilities, process improvements, and contingency tasks. You will act as a role model and mentor to new managers.
Shifts may include day, mid, and night shifts, with flexibility for weekends. Travel across the Dortmund facilities is required, with a typical pattern of 1-2 days in the office and remaining days at facilities, starting and ending days at different locations as needed.
You will join the Amazon Transportation Service (ATS) team, which plays a central role in Amazon’s success by using data-driven decisions to optimize transport operations, prioritizing safety and efficiency.
