Zusammenfassung

Schaeffler is offering a six-month thesis position in the Electric Propulsion team within Central Engineering Services, Research & Development. The role focuses on topology optimization and e-machine design using JMAG simulations, with opportunities to contribute to simulation workflows and prototype development.

Candidates are expected to be enrolled in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics/Physics/Mathematics and to have German and strong English, plus basic knowledge of FEM and optimization

Qualifikationen

  • Studies in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Mathematics, or a comparable field of study
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Basic knowledge of electric machines and simulation methods
  • Basic knowledge of optimization methods
  • First experience with finite element simulation
  • Fluency in German and very good English skills, both spoken and written
  • Analytical thinking and structured working style
  • Independent and reliable way of working
  • Interest in topology optimization and numerical analysis

Aufgaben

  • Literature research on topology optimization methods and e-machine design
  • Definition of design objectives and constraints
  • Set up JMAG simulation models for relevant components or subcomponent
  • Prepare and execute of topology optimization using finite element simulation
  • Evaluate the influence of simulation parameters on results
  • Evaluation of optimized geometries with respect to performance, material usage, and manufacturability
  • Documentation of results and derivation of recommendations for further development

General Information

The Electric Propulsion team is part of Technology & Innovation within Central Engineering Services in the Research & Development division. The team supports the development of innovative e-machine concepts through simulation-based investigations and prototype development. In addition, new simulation workflows are evaluated and introduced to further enhance technical capabilities and development efficiency.

A basic requirement for a thesis at Schaeffler is proof of enrollment at the time of the thesis. This position is available as soon as possible for a duration of 6 months.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Literature research on topology optimization methods and e-machine design

Your Qualifications
