Zusammenfassung

Schaeffler is inviting a student fellow to work on EMC-related simulations in the electric drive domain. You will model and extend a drive system, perform sensitivity analyses, and document results under supervision. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and regular presentations are expected.

The position offers a structured training environment and insights into automotive power electronics. The role starts October 2026 for six months; enrollment in a relevant degree is required.

Qualifikationen

  • Actively pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or a comparable field of study.
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
  • Experience with MATLAB.
  • Knowledge of LTspice is desirable.
  • Good German and English language skills, both written and spoken.
  • Initiative and structured approach.

Aufgaben

  • Familiarization with the topics of 'electric drive technology' and 'electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)'.
  • Literature research on the topic 'EMC Simulation in drive technology'.
  • Modeling and extension of an electric system model to simulated conducted emissions.
  • Conducting and evaluating sensitivity studies.
  • Analysing the overall system based on the system simulation model.
  • Documenting and presenting the results.

The basic requirement for a thesis at Schaeffler is proof of enrollment at the time of the thesis. This position must be filled from October 2026 for a period of 6 months.

Motivation and Background

The use of fast-switching power modules in the electric drivetrain of an electric vehicle generates undesirable parasitic effects in the system. These can negatively affect electromagnetic compatibility as well as the service life of the bearing. In a thesis, the influence of various components will be analyzed using a simulation model and compared with measurements.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Familiarization with the topics of "electric drive technology" and "electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)"
  • Literature research on the topic "EMC Simulation in drive technology"
  • Modeling and extension of an electric system model to simulated conducted emissions
  • Conducting and evaluating sensitivity studies
