For the winter term 2025/2026, we are looking for you as a candidate (m/f/d) for a thesis in the field of procurement with the topic of “AI in purchasing – potential for increasing efficiency through the targeted use of AI agents.”

Background and objective of the thesis:

Procurement is undergoing change: digitalization, automation, and, in particular, artificial intelligence (AI) offer a wide range of opportunities for increasing efficiency. The aim of this thesis is to develop a structured concept for how the purchasing department of a medium-sized industrial company can be supported operationally and strategically in its processes through the targeted use of AI and AI agents (e.g., ChatGPT, specialized procurement tools).

Your tasks:

• Identification of relevant AI agents and tools tailored to purchasing processes (e.g., AI agents on our servers or specialized procurement solutions)
• Definition and prioritization of suitable use cases for purchasing (e.g., bid evaluation, request generation, supplier analysis, contract review)
• Conducting a market analysis, including targeted supplier inquiries and comparison of solutions
• Designing a possible target vision for the integration of AI agents in purchasing, taking into account IT infrastructure, data protection, and user acceptance
• Preparation of a cost-benefit analysis and evaluation of economic potential
• Derivation of concrete recommendations for action and development of an implementation roadmap with short-, medium-, and long-term measures
