Jobbeschreibung

In response to increasing reliability requirements in power electronics and the cost advantage over silver sintering, copper sintering is increasingly becoming the focus of research in microelectronic packaging technology. One challenge, however, is the lack of tacking in dried copper pastes and preforms after the chips have been placed. Especially in series production, the placed chips can shift and thus negatively affect the sintering quality. The aim of this work is therefore to develop a tacking agent that is compatible with the sintering process, fixes the chips and, if necessary, has a reducing effect on the copper surface.

What you will do

  • Testing of reducing agents, binding agents and other chemicals and fixing the quantities on the properties of the tacking agent
  • Chemical investigations of the tacking agents developed
  • Analysis of samples sintered with tacking agent regarding residues and performance
  • Literature research about the composition of tacking agents for soldering and the requirements for sintering

What you bring to the table

  • Enrolled in one of the following or related fields of study: Chemistry, Engineering: Electrical Engineering, Materials Science
  • Chemical understanding and knowledge of surface chemistry
  • Analytical methods such as DSC, TGA and mass spectroscopy
  • Fundamentals of materials science and basic knowledge of the sintering process in power electronics
  • Structured, independent and results-oriented way of working with test planning
  • Ambition, creativity, motivation, ability to work in a team and commitment in everyday work
  • Fluent in German and/or English
