Description
We are developing radar perception AI models that allow radar sensors to understand the world around them. With modern AI-based perception, radar can be used in safety, comfort, and autonomy applications in passenger cars. Because training AI models is very data hungry, data collection is a key underpinning of our ability to develop these technologies.
In this role, you will be participating in our AI perception model development efforts by operating our data collection car. This car is equipped with multiple radar, lidar, and camera sensors which collect real-world data. Through this effort, you will be exposed to the sensor setup and data collection strategies that underpin real-world AI development. You will get a chance to see and influence how we decide what data to collect, how this data is obtained, stored, and processed, and how this improves the quality of our perception models.
The data collection car is controlled through a Linux-based server and a web UI. You will be responsible for operating this system and driving the vehicle on pre-defined local routes for regular acquisition and testing periods throughout the week. Some basic Linux familiarity and knowledge of how to clone and build Github repos is necessary to operate the system. You may be required to troubleshoot issues that you encounter and report issues to the engineering team.
Your Role
- Conducting test drives with a test vehicle on specified routes in public traffic or on test tracks
- Operating the measurement system to record measurement data
- Creating trip reports and test documentation
- Monitoring the condition of the measurement unit and vehicle (such as data storage, power supply, fuel level)
- Contributing insights and supporting the planning of test drives
What We Look For
- Experience in dealing with hardware and software
- Driver's license of class B with extensive driving experience
- Minimum 21 years of age (legal minimum age of a test driver)
- Strong interest in identifying sources of error and ensuring a smooth measurement process
- Reliability, responsibility, and willingness to learn
- Good English skills, both written and spoken
- Willingness to travel occasionally for business trips at home and abroad
- Advantageous: Linux, Git, and Bash know-how, Driver's license of class BE, C1, or C1E
What We Offer
- Opportunity to make an impact at a young, venture-backed company in an emerging market
- Competitive salary plus share options
- Daily lunch supported by a fixed amount for in-office days to be used freely at your discretion
