Job Description:

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Tenure Track Assistant Professor in " Test and Qualification of Aerospace Technologies " to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term (6 year) tenure-track professorship with the possibility for promotion to a tenured W3. Scientific Environment The professorship will be assigned to the Department of Aerospace and Geodesy at the TUM School of Engineering and Design. Responsibilities The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Test and Qualification of Aerospace Technologies with a focus on interdisciplinary and application-oriented research to advance testing methodologies and qualification strategies in aerospace, e.g. the investigation of structural, thermal, electromagnetic, acoustic, and aerodynamic behavior of systems, as well as lifecycle and failure analyses. A further focus lies on the development and application of innovative testing methodologies, the qualification of materials, components, and systems, and the simulation of relevant environments to ensure reliability, safety, and performance. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university's bachelor and master programs. Qualifications We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international level. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected (please see for further information).
