Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. in Bremen seeks a skilled Technical Writer to craft user manuals, online help, and service documentation for our instruments and software in Technical English.

You will work on information gathering from experts, ensure compliance with standards, implement corporate design guidelines, and create/edit graphics and multimedia. Collaboration across projects, and openness to AI-assisted methods, are essential.

Qualifications

• Completed education as a Technical Writer, or alternatively a scientific university degree (e.g., Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Linguistics)
• Several years of professional experience as a Technical Writer.
• Knowledge of creating texts in Technical English;
• Experience in FrameMaker, preferably also in a Content Management System (e.g. Schema ST4, SDL Tridion Docs);
• Knowledge of common standards and guidelines for the creation of technical documentation;
• Knowledge of MS Office products (Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel);
• Experience with image editing programs (Corel PaintShop Pro, Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator, SnagIt) and/or video creation programs;
• High linguistic and interpersonal skills (English and, if possible, German);

Responsibilities

Location/Division Specific Information

We are a research, development, and production site in Bremen currently, with about 500 employees, whose “high-end” measurement and analysis instruments (mass spectrometers) are used in research and science worldwide. Our innovative products in the fields of Life Sciences MS and Inorganic MS, as well as T Elemental Analysis, are among the leading products globally in their respective markets.

A day in the Life
