About the Role

As the leader of our Data Platform team, you will play a pivotal role in Scalable Capital’s data journey. Your team manages our data infrastructure, focusing on improving, extending, and automating data platforms. You will lead and mentor two data experts and act as a hands-on staff engineer, shaping our technology and best practices.

You and your team will serve as the go-to experts for data engineering and platform best practices, covering data modeling, pipeline design, coding standards, and security—empowering other teams and fostering a data-driven culture.

• Lead, mentor, and inspire a small team of senior data engineers.
• Own architecture, development, and operation of data platforms, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.
• Automate platform operations and optimize data workflows.
• Be the first point of contact for other data engineering teams on platform usage, data modeling, pipeline design, and best practices.
• Collaborate across teams to set standards and promote data engineering excellence, including security.
• Remain hands-on: architect, code, review, and deploy data infrastructure solutions.
• Drive adoption of modern tooling, including GenAI-assisted coding, with critical evaluation of outputs.

Requirements include several years (5+) of experience with data platforms, expertise in AWS services (S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift), security best practices, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation), workflow orchestration (Airflow, Step Functions), data modeling, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), software engineering best practices, and leadership skills.
