About you and this role:

As a Technical Service & Development Scientist in Wiesbaden, Germany, you will leverage your technical expertise to address customer needs by leading the development of new products and providing support on the use, handling, and management of Dow products.

This role requires specialized in-depth knowledge and advanced expertise in a materials or chemistry-related discipline. You will analyze and identify technical challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services. Effective communication of complex concepts and persuasion skills are essential.

You will use sophisticated analytical thinking and judgment to identify innovative solutions, lead others in solving complex problems, and potentially lead cross-functional project teams with moderate resources, risk, and complexity. Your performance will influence business direction through new product or service development.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify development projects, set timelines, and manage the product portfolio to meet business needs while considering external trends.
  • Align with business objectives by engaging with customers and internal functions.
  • Provide experimental data demonstrating differentiated technical solutions and articulate synergies between technologies to maximize value.
  • Create a vision and multi-generational technology plan for the relevant business or technical capability.
  • Understand the full range of manufacturers, competitors, and technologies in adjacent segments.
  • Provide peer leadership and mentorship across multiple project areas, coaching others in identifying opportunities and articulating the value of Dow technologies in various applications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Material Science, or a related science field is required.
  • A Master's degree or PhD is preferred.
  • Proficiency in English; basic German communication skills are a plus.

Your Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project management experience, especially in laboratory research.
  • Experience with Six Sigma tools and methodologies is advantageous.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in experimental, computational, and theoretical methods.
  • Experience with silicone elastomer technologies is a plus.

Additional Notes:

  • Relocation or visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
  • Travel to customers, conferences, and trade shows is expected.
