Job summary

Agile Robots SE in Munich seeks a Technical Lead to own the most complex customer projects, diagnose cross-domain robotic systems, and guide technical direction. You will shape project scope, coordinate with product and management, and drive roadmap initiatives based on field learnings.

You will coach engineers across teams, collaborate with stakeholders, and travel to customer sites as needed. Fluent English is essential for this customer-facing role.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable field.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in robotics in startups, research institutes, or similar environments.
• Deep technical knowledge across motion planning and control, perception and computer vision, robot learning/AI models, real-time and embedded systems, and software architecture.
• Proven track record solving hard problems in real deployments.
• Clear communicator capable of explaining complex technical situations to engineers, customers, and management.
• Calm, pragmatic, and decisive under pressure.
• Fluent in English; willingness to travel to customer sites.

• Diagnose problems across the whole system: robot hardware, controls, perception, AI models, software, and integration
• Make the call on technical direction when there is no obvious answer, and stand behind it with customers, partners, and management
• Step into project leadership where needed: re-plan scope, reset expectations, and get the team moving again
• Shape the product roadmap with what you learn in the field, and turn one‑off solutions into platform capabilities
• Challenge and sharpen the project scope early, before commitments are made, together with Sales, Pre‑Sales, and project management
• Act as a technical counterpart for senior customer and partner stakeholders
• Coach engineers across teams, and raise the technical bar by example
• Calm, pragmatic, and decisive under pressure

As Technical Lead, you are one of the people we turn to when it matters most. When a critical project hits a wall, whether the problem is technical, organizational, or both, you step in, get to the root of it, and get it back on track. You work at the staff level alongside product and project management, and your judgment shapes what we build: which problems the platform solves next, how projects are scoped, and where the technical boundaries lie.

• Deep technical knowledge across several of these: motion planning and control, perception and computer vision, robot learning or AI models, real‑time and embedded systems, and software architecture
• A track record of solving hard problems in real deployments, not just in the lab
• Confident in taking on project management responsibility when the situation calls for it
• Clear communicator who can explain complex technical situations to engineers, customers, and management alike
• Calm, pragmatic, and decisive under pressure
• Fluent English; willingness to travel to customer sites when a project needs you

Beneficial Skills :

• Fluent in German; Mandarin is a plus
• Experience with humanoids, mobile manipulation, or Vision‑Language‑Action models
• Experience in a product company where customer projects drive platform development
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols, machinery, and functional safety
