Victrex is seeking an experienced, skilled, self-driven, and proactive Technical Engineer with a strong orientation toward technical and applications expertise relevant to Victrex’s business and markets. The role is ideal for a technically adept engineer with hands-on industrial experience and a passion for delivering a positive customer experience. Core strengths in polymers and processes are essential, with additional competencies in future markets and digital technologies highly desirable.

About the Role:

This position requires Polymer, Processing, and Application expertise to provide differentiated technical service and support for new and existing customers within Europe. You will work directly with customers and collaborate across Technical, R&D, and Commercial teams, owning technical deliverables throughout the customer’s design, development, and manufacturing lifecycle with Victrex products.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Consulting: Provide in-depth technical product, process, and application knowledge, acting as a credible advisor to customers and supporting global colleagues where needed.
2. Technical Support: Respond to customer issues related to product performance or processing challenges, serving as the regional contact for quality concerns.
3. Business Development: Support sales through proactive technical proposals, owning key technical milestones aligned with commercial targets, and developing a technical support network.
4. Customer Relationship: Build and maintain technical relationships, identify new opportunities, and improve customer experience.
5. New Product Development (NPD): Lead customer input for NPD projects and support product evaluation and validation stages.

Experience and Skills Required:

• Expertise in polymers, especially high-performance polymers and engineering thermoplastics, and their processing.
• Hands-on polymer processing experience, ideally in injection moulding technology.
• Strong communication skills in both German and English, capable of speaking technical and commercial language.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively to resolve technical issues and enhance customer experience.
• Influencing skills based on technical facts and data analysis.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or equivalent in engineering, polymer science, or materials science.

Key Role Metrics:

• 3-5 growth-targeted projects annually, some complex or requiring high support.
• Support for 2-5 partner/key customer accounts and over 50 customers annually.
