Group / Division

The Customer Engagement (CE) team is our field-based, customer-facing organization consisting of Technical Engagement Managers and Application Engineers. The team partners closely with our customers to provide a comprehensive portfolio of products, software, and expertise to help manage yield throughout the fabrication process—from research and development to final volume production. Responsibilities include maintaining strategic client relationships, partnering with sales to identify and close sales opportunities, ensuring product performance and expectations are met, providing solutions for improved yield, and collecting requirements for future products based on customer processes and technology trends. The team helps ensure alignment between customer needs and product offerings to maintain high customer satisfaction.

Job Description / Preferred Qualifications

We are seeking a Technical Engagement Manager within the European Business Unit, based in Dresden, Germany, or Grenoble, France. This role involves leading our Application Engineer team and driving projects and strategic engagement with European customers for the Unpattern Wafer Inspection Division.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the CE Applications Team for Unpattern inspection and wafer geometry product lines.
  • Defining and executing customer-specific product penetration, positioning, and market share strategies.
  • Developing relationships with key customer technical influencers.
  • Having a deep understanding of leading-edge technologies such as specialty and WBG processes and inspection technology.
  • Driving collaboration projects, evaluation, H2H ramp support, etc., to deliver differentiated product value, ensure continued product learning, and resolve customer issues.
  • Understanding the customer sales cycle and processes.
  • Developing sales strategies in collaboration with account managers and technical directors.
  • Applying KLA sales processes (Value, People, SPIN, etc.).
  • Delivering technical presentations and product demonstrations to customers.
  • Coordinating resource planning and addressing technical/application gaps.
  • Mentoring and coaching engineers, motivating team members.
  • Building a strong application team through personnel development and evaluation.
  • Having solid knowledge of semiconductor processes, inspection technology, data analysis, and statistical process control.
  • Previous industry or customer experience is preferred.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Project management experience, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Creative thinking to address new customer challenges.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership abilities, including team creation, project success under pressure, and influencing situations through facts.
  • Experience working across multiple cultures.
  • Strong business acumen, ability to work under stress, and face multiple challenges.
  • Proactive issue management with accountability and insightfulness, including conflict management.

Key Challenges:

This position offers the opportunity to manage the Application Engineering team, drive strategic projects with major European KLA customers, introduce new products and technologies, and support KLA's market share. Frequent travel (50-75%) across the BU is required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Languages: Fluent English (spoken and written); knowledge of French, German, or Italian is a plus.
  • Master's degree in Physics, Material Science, or Engineering with 5-7 years of industry experience, or PhD with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Experience as a Defectivity, Process, or Yield Team Lead with knowledge of KLA technology and at least 3 years in the role.
