At E.ON, data capabilities are split into two pillars: “data as an asset to innovation” and “data usages such as AI and data analytics”. Both are organized in separate units. You, as a Technical Data Governance Manager (f/m/d), will focus on the pillar “data as an asset to innovation”. Your role involves designing and implementing data governance & management capabilities across various digital technologies, platforms, and business units to support our data strategy. You will define and operationalize processes that promote data governance, compliance, and organizational growth in managing data assets throughout their lifecycle.
You will be part of the central Data Architecture & Governance team, collaborating closely with data and technical teams, and key stakeholders at the central and business unit levels across Europe. Additionally, you will support multiple business units in their data governance and strategy initiatives.
Meaningful & Challenging - Your Tasks
- Design, embed, operate, and scale data governance processes across various data programs, systems, data types, and digital innovations.
- Automate documentation of metadata, complex ETL processes, and governance requirements within a data catalog.
- Gather compliance and business requirements, coordinate task forces, and provide guidance.
- Develop and formalize the central data governance framework, including roles and responsibilities.
- Contribute to data strategy and support its group-wide technical implementation.
- Support upskilling and knowledge sharing on data governance across the group.
- Define, align, and operationalize sub-strategies for data management & governance.
- Identify industry trends on data leverage for competitive advantage and data-driven innovation opportunities.
Authentic & Ambitious - Your Profile
- Bachelor/Master’s in data engineering, data modeling, informatics, data science, economics, or related fields.
- Several years of experience in project management, data engineering, and operationalization of data governance processes.
- Strong knowledge of data management, governance, strategy, architecture tools (e.g., Erwin DIS, Collibra), data lake architecture (e.g., Azure Data Lake), and programming languages like SQL.
- Understanding of metadata management, database scanning, firewalls, and reporting tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or Qlik.
- Experience in building enterprise glossaries and implementing data ownership & stewardship in data catalogs.
- Extensive experience managing large-scale data projects in a regulated, fast-changing industry.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, capable of simplifying complex data concepts for diverse audiences.
- Ability to translate legal obligations into organizational and technical actions.
