Full-time

Pediatric Glioma Research

Research for a life without cancer is our mission at the German Cancer Research Center. We investigate how cancer develops, identify cancer risk factors, and look for new prevention strategies. We develop methods for more precise tumor diagnosis and improved treatment options. Every contribution, whether in research, administration, or infrastructure, makes our work meaningful and exciting.

The Division of Pediatric Glioma Research is seeking a suitable candidate to join us.

Our division characterizes and models rare pediatric brain tumor entities, primarily pediatric gliomas. We utilize advanced techniques such as next-generation sequencing and other omics methods to study tumor biology. Additionally, we focus on personalized medicine, employing precise diagnostics to identify and target therapeutic options. A key goal is to bridge basic biology and clinical application, an area we aim to strengthen.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-organized technical assistant interested in preclinical basic research, with teamwork skills and a sense of responsibility. The successful candidate will work with an international team of technical staff, postdocs, and doctoral students, establishing, planning, conducting, and evaluating experiments with mouse models in vivo and tumor cell lines in vitro. Key tasks include:

  • Working with in vivo tumor models, including somatic gene transfer and treatment
  • Histological methods: working with mouse and human tissues, embedding, sectioning, immunostaining, and evaluation
  • Cell culture work: culturing cell lines, producing lentiviruses, transfection, and performing various cell assays in BSL-1 and BSL-2 laboratories
  • Molecular biology techniques: DNA/RNA preparation, cloning, sequencing, mutagenesis, PCR
  • Laboratory organization: ordering supplies, managing inventory, ensuring safety compliance
  • Laboratory maintenance: equipment upkeep, organization, and cleanliness
  • Documentation and reporting: recording experiments, protocols, and results accurately
  • Supporting scientists in administrative and organizational tasks

Your Profile

  • Completed training as a technical assistant (MTA/BTA) or biology laboratory assistant
