Jobtailor is seeking an experienced backend engineer to lead and develop a modular Java/Jakarta EE platform with a strong emphasis on cloud infrastructure, security, and scalable deployment. The role includes migrating data, improving CI/CD pipelines, and shaping architectural decisions while collaborating with the CTO.

• Several years of professional experience in backend development with Java (Jakarta EE / Java EE / Spring) in production systems.
• Strong experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and a commitment to quality.
• Demonstrated experience as a Tech Lead or Senior Engineer with team responsibility.
• Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS (EC2, ECS, CloudWatch, S3).
• Experience with MongoDB or comparable NoSQL databases in production environments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar) and modern deployment practices.
• Hands-on mentality and ability to deliver value quickly without long onboarding.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation).
• Experience with frontend technologies such as React and/or React Native.
• Understanding of mobility, car-sharing, or vehicle rental domains.
• Experience in regulated environments or GDPR compliance projects.
• Knowledge of telematics hardware integrations or IoT-related systems.
• Class B driver's license

Aufgaben

• Further develop and maintain the modular Java/Jakarta EE platform, including shared responsibility for architectural decisions
• Implement infrastructure improvements: IaC (Terraform / CloudFormation), multi-region setup, and disaster recovery plan
• Own the implementation of outstanding security measures
• Migrate binary data from MongoDB to S3 and deliver additional projects to reduce technical debt
• Evaluate and further develop CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI) and test coverage
• Establish formal code review processes and consistent planning cycles within the engineering team
• Work closely with the CTO to gradually transition engineering and operational responsibilities
• Support the development of a product management process aligned with customer requirements
• Mentor the junior frontend developer and support the senior engineers
• Share responsibility for monitoring, alerting, and incident response using AWS CloudWatch, Sentry, and Crashlytics
• Optimize the Sentry configuration to reduce noise and improve observability
• Automate dependency vulnerability scanning in the CI pipeline
• Provide technical support for customer projects from onboarding through troubleshooting
