Job Summary

The Team Leader is accountable for achieving the People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash, and Cost (PSQDCC) targets through the disciplined and rigorous deployment of the Lean Operating Model.

The Team Leader is responsible for attaining Operational Excellence across their designated area of responsibility, in line with the Performance Centre objectives.

The Team Leader is accountable for creating a Great Place To Work by developing and empowering first-class Team Members and driving a culture of continuous improvement, safe working, and open dialogue.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Create and sustain a culture aligned with GKN Aerospace’s Great Place To Work value drivers and Culture Principles by role-modelling behaviours, motivating, encouraging, and recognizing the contribution of individuals and teams.
  2. Hold Team Members and Team Leaders accountable to embody the GKN Aerospace culture principles.
  3. Be open and honest when appraising and managing individual performance while supporting and coaching individuals to close performance gaps.
  4. Provide opportunities for Team Members to leverage their strengths; do what they do best, and create ongoing opportunities for learning and personal development.
  5. Exemplify a safety-first mindset and ensure that GKN Aerospace Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and standards are applied, making their areas a model of a world-class healthy and safe working environment.
  6. Lead and develop their teams to understand the context, mechanics, and delivery of PSQDCC targets to meet customer and stakeholder commitments.
  7. Drive the disciplined deployment of the Lean Operating Model (LOM) across their areas.
  8. Engage actively in problem solving and management systems using a "Go to Gemba" approach to resolve issues, aiming for 95% of problems to be solved within the zone.
  9. Contribute to the design of the future state of the Value Stream and ensure its execution across their areas.
  10. Collaborate with other Team Leaders to optimize overall performance of the entire area.
  11. Hold functional support staff accountable for adhering to global standards and enabling their zone team to meet targets.
  12. Ensure disciplined execution of Daily Management and Standardized Work through adherence to Leader Standard Work.
  13. Facilitate and ensure engagement of all team members, defining, implementing, and following through on engagement actions.
  14. Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements, including the company's Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action policies, U.S. Government contracting policies, Export Control regulations, and others.
  15. Manage a Zone budget as agreed with their Group Leader.
  16. Take ownership of making difficult decisions related to their Zone.
