eleQtron develops and operates full-stack quantum computers based on trapped-ion technology. Quantum computing is a new computing paradigm rapidly approaching commercial viability. Our unique approach combines laser-cooled trapped ions with microwave control and tailored magnetic fields. Your Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of highly skilled mechanical engineers, including experts in vacuum technology and cryogenic systems, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment
- Conduct regular check-ins and 1:1s to monitor progress, remove blockers, and drive team motivation
- Lead & shape the technical strategy of complex quantum hardware projects in alignment with company objectives.
- Oversee the design, analysis, and testing of mechanical components and systems for quantum devices
- Manage the integration of various subsystems, including cryogenic, vacuum, optical, and electronic interfaces
- Take a hands-on role during critical phases (approx. 20%, team management- 80%) while primarily focusing on team leadership
- Understand and advise on technical challenges, escalate critical issues to the CPO when needed, and manage internal/external resources to address complex problems
- Identify and mitigate technical risks, proactively seeking innovative solutions to challenges
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including quantum physicists, electrical engineers, and software developers
- Establish and uphold best practices for design, documentation, and quality control
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Strong track record of technical project leadership in R&D or advanced engineering environments, with clear impact on timelines, quality, and team alignment.
- Demonstrable experience leading high performing engineering teams
- Strong background in the design and development of complex mechanical systems, with a preference for experience in quantum hardware, cryogenics, vacuum systems, or precision engineering
- Proven ability to coordinate technical efforts and manage resources across complex engineering tasks for timely and efficient execution.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong analytical mindset
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in English, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
- Familiarity with CAD software and simulation tools
