Solactive AG is seeking a Team Head to lead the Platform Infrastructure group end to end, spanning on‑prem and cloud, with ownership of SLOs, budgets, and future roadmap. You will recruit and grow engineers and collaborate with product, security and IT to make the platform the preferred choice for teams.

Job Overview

We run our own infrastructure spanning multiple on‑premises data centres and public cloud, handling index calculation and market data workloads where correctness and latency are non‑negotiable. We are looking for a Team Head to lead the Platform Infrastructure group end to end, from network fabric and storage to the control plane and developer‑facing platform our product teams build on.

Your Tasks

• Set the direction, recruit and grow engineers, and ensure the team’s delivery and health.
• Translate business and engineering strategy into a multi‑quarter infrastructure roadmap and defend trade‑offs to leadership and the team.
• Own SLOs, incident response, on‑call sustainability, and the blameless post‑incident process; reduce toil structurally.
• Drive datacenter strategy, consolidate the on‑prem footprint, build new sites, and determine the boundary between in‑house and purchased services.
• Own the infrastructure budget, capacity planning, and hardware lifecycle.
• Partner with product, engineering, security, and IT to make the platform the preferred choice for teams.
• Maintain a security‑focused mindset and a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
• Thrill in an energetic, fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
• Be proficient with Kubernetes, distributed storage (Ceph or equivalent), Linux, networking (BGP/EVPN, firewalls, L4/L7 load balancing), messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ), relational databases (MariaDB/Postgres), GitOps (ArgoCD), and GCP.

Your Profile

• 8+ years in infrastructure, SRE, or platform engineering, with significant on‑prem production experience.
• Demonstrated leadership – line management of engineers or senior staff capable of stepping into a Team Head role.
• Collaborative approach that ensures clear communication across groups.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage intricate details without losing the big picture.
• Fluency in observability, capacity planning, change management, and incident command.
• Excellent written communication in English: able to produce design docs, RFCs, and post‑incident reviews.
• Resourceful and solutions‑focused, balancing practical considerations across teams.
• Outcome‑driven: track reliability, cost efficiency, and engineering velocity as business metrics.
• Strong analytical skills and a natural problem‑solver.
• Self‑learner with an inquisitive mind.

Nice To Have

• Knowledge of financial services, market data, or low‑latency, high‑correctness industries.
• German language skills (useful but not required).
• Experience in regulated or high‑compliance sectors (NIS2, ISO27001, SOC2, GDPR, data sovereignty, ITIL).
