The Green Recruitment Company is seeking a Team Lead Electrical Engineer to own the AC electrical engineering scope across large-scale BESS projects and high-voltage substations in Germany. You’ll shape technical solutions, drive design decisions and ensure delivery aligns with project requirements.

Based in Berlin, the role offers leadership of internal engineers and coordination with external partners, EPCs and grid specialists.

Formación

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Several years’ experience in AC electrical engineering for large-scale BESS, renewables or HV infrastructure.
• Strong design and leadership capabilities; able to coordinate external partners.
• Fluent German and good English.

Responsabilidades

• Take technical ownership of the AC electrical engineering scope across large-scale BESS projects and high-voltage substations.
• Lead the technical design from concepts through to detailed design, construction and commissioning.
• Oversee the design of high-voltage infrastructure, substations, transformers, switchgear and protection systems.
• Review and challenge technical designs, calculations, specifications and engineering documentation.
• Coordinate external engineering consultants and EPC contractors to meet project requirements.
• Work closely with project managers, grid connection specialists and construction teams to resolve technical challenges.
• Make key engineering decisions and provide direction on technical solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support development of internal engineering standards and processes as the business grows.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to other engineers within the team.

Team Lead Electrical Engineer – AC / BESS & High Voltage Substations

We are working with a well-established pan-European IPP operating across the wind, solar PV and BESS markets. The company has been active in Germany for over 20 years, with a strong track record of developing, constructing and operating renewable energy projects.

Backed by a major infrastructure fund, the business is in a very strong financial position, with the funding and project pipeline to continue investing in and delivering projects across Germany for years to come. It’s a secure environment to join, with plenty of projects ahead and the opportunity to play an important role in the company’s continued growth.

They are now looking for a Team Lead Electrical Engineer to take ownership of the AC electrical engineering side of their large-scale BESS projects and high-voltage substations.

The Role

This is an opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer who is ready to take a leading role in the technical delivery of projects. You’ll have responsibility for the AC engineering scope, helping shape technical solutions, making key engineering decisions and ensuring projects are designed and delivered correctly.

You’ll work closely with internal project development and construction teams, as well as external engineering partners, consultants and EPC contractors. The role will involve a good mix of technical leadership, engineering oversight and getting into the detail when needed.

It’s particularly suited to someone who wants more responsibility and ownership, rather than simply being another technical resource within a larger engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of the AC electrical engineering scope across large-scale BESS projects and high-voltage substations.
• Lead the technical design and engineering of AC systems, from initial concepts through to detailed design, construction and commissioning.
• Oversee the design of high-voltage infrastructure, including substations, transformers, switchgear, protection systems and associated electrical equipment.
• Review and challenge technical designs, calculations, specifications and engineering documentation.
• Coordinate external engineering consultants and EPC contractors, ensuring technical deliverables meet project requirements.
• Work closely with project managers, grid connection specialists and construction teams to resolve technical challenges.
• Make key engineering decisions and provide direction on technical solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support the development of internal engineering standards and processes as the business continues to grow.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to other engineers within the team.

Your Background

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline.
• Several years of experience in AC electrical engineering, ideally within large-scale BESS, renewable energy or high-voltage infrastructure projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of high-voltage substations and associated electrical systems.
• Experience with AC system design, transformers, switchgear, protection and control systems.
• Experience taking technical responsibility for projects and coordinating external engineering partners.
• Comfortable making technical decisions, challenging designs and taking ownership of engineering deliverables.
• Previous leadership or team coordination experience would be beneficial, but technical capability and the willingness to take responsibility are equally important.
• Fluent German and good English.
