About the role

We’re looking for a confident and proactive Team Lead Accounting Principles & Projects to join our team. This is your opportunity to guide, lead, inspire and support a talented group, navigate complex international accounting challenges, and make a tangible impact on how we power the future.

  • Lead, inspire and support a team of around five accounting professionals.
  • Play an integral role in the RWEST Accounting management team, influencing key strategic decisions.
  • Assess and manage IAS/IFRS topics, including financial instruments, commodity transactions and leasing (e.g., IFRS 9, IFRS 10, IFRS 15, IFRS 16, IAS 37, IAS 2).
  • Develop and refine accounting principles to support innovative new trading products, acquisitions and investment projects.
  • Coordinate group-level IAS/IFRS topics to ensure alignment with RWE’s financial strategy.
  • Support the preparation of quarterly financial statements under HGB/IFRS, including evaluating commodity contracts, provisions and financial notes.
  • Evaluate and assess new trading products, acquisition opportunities, and investment projects, contributing to high-impact decision-making.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for auditors, managing inquiries with precision and professionalism.
  • Coordinate and deliver key internal projects to drive continuous improvement.
Job requirements and experience
  • A degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a comparable field of study.
  • Profound knowledge of IFRS (familiarity with HGB is advantageous).
  • Proven experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to balance priorities and deliver results effectively.
  • An analytical mindset paired with a solution-driven approach and a can-do attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate at all organisational levels.
  • Advanced proficiency in English.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to take on new challenges.
Advantageous, but not essential
  • Expertise in German Local GAAP (HGB).
  • Previous experience in the dynamic energy or financial services sectors.
  • Additional languages, especially German, are an asset.
