Overview: This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. The Systems Administrator - Senior is responsible for tasks associated with the day-to-day technical operations of the Network Control Center supporting US Army Corps of Engineers, Europe District (CENAU). Responsible for leading and supporting tasks required to support and administratively maintain the server environment for the US Army Corps of Engineers, Europe District (CENAU). Responsible for activities related to system administration. Assigns personnel to various projects, directs their activities, and evaluates their work. Ensures long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning of the organization. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of computer software. Implements operating system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system. Place of Performance: Wiesbaden, Germany with possible travel to field sites throughout Europe.

Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and servers, including web servers, in support of business processing requirements.
2. Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
3. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
4. Supports media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services.
5. Develops and promotes standard operating procedures.
6. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
7. Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
8. Maintains Domain Name System (DNS)/Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) services for the management of all IP addresses (currently Microsoft) in use at supported sites.
9. Performs other duties and assignments as required.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Education / Certifications: MA/MS with 10+ years or BA/BS with 12+ years of experience with VMWare Certification version 6 or higher (VCP6).
2. Must have at least 5 years of experience in managing a virtualized environment in a medium or large-scale enterprise that includes ESX, vCenter, Storage or similar storage technologies.
3. Must have at least 8+ years of experience supporting Active Directory, DNS, Windows Servers, and DHCP.
4. IAT II (i.e., Security+) certification.
5. ITIL Foundations version 3 or higher certification.
6. VMWare Certification VCP6 or higher certification.
7. Must qualify for Technical Expert (TE) status under the U.S. Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) in Germany.
8. Secret Security Clearance.

Experience / Skills: MA/MS with 10+ years or BA/BS with 12+ years of experience with VMWare Certification version 6 or higher (VCP6).

Supervisory / Budget Responsibilities: May supervise other network support and client server specialists and plan, coordinate, and implement systems/network security measures. Will provide leadership/mentorship to junior & mid-level network administrators.
