System and Mechanical Design Engineer (m/f/d) for Human Spaceflight Projects

Your Tasks:

  • System Engineering Support for Human Spaceflight payload development projects from Phase A to E1, mainly for ISS projects but also for human missions beyond Low Earth Orbit.
  • System engineering for mechanical sub-systems from requirements management, design definition, coordination of manufacturing, assembly, integration and test for the implementation of housings, instruments, sensors, optics, mechanisms and fluidic systems.
  • Preparation and maintenance of documentation (e.g. design documents, interface control documents, test procedures, test reports).
  • Support of assembly, integration and testing in the OHB laboratories and at various spaceflight facilities in Europe. Act as technical focal point for the system engineering tasks assigned to you with interfaces to the project manager, project team, OHB expert departments and customers.
  • Support of proposal preparation as well as evaluation of subcontractor proposals/concepts.

Your Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in aerospace engineering or mechanical engineering.
  • Experience in the international aerospace sector as a system engineer in phase C/D/E1 ISS hardware projects.
  • Practical experience in the mechanical design for experiment setups using CAD.
  • Skills in the design, development, qualification and acceptance of ISS experimental systems would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with ESA/DLR/NASA ISS program documentation, interface management, ECSS, safety processes and support of scientific tests would be desirable.
  • High level of motivation, pro-active and multi-tasking approach.
  • Excellent conceptual and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and documentation skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English (Business English).
