1. Project / Department Overview
The position is part of a central IT Operations environment responsible for the coordination, delivery, operation, and monitoring of highly secure and classified IT services.
The role is assigned to a Classified System Control Center, which ensures stable operations for IT and communication services with elevated security classifications.
Operations are performed in a 24/7 shift‑based control center, requiring continuous monitoring, rapid incident handling, and strict compliance with security and operational standards.
2. Responsibilities and Scope of Work
The System Administrator supports IT Operations Management with partial responsibility for the secure and reliable operation of classified IT infrastructures.
IT Operations & Infrastructure Management
- Install, configure, commission, administer, and monitor IT and communication service infrastructures, considering current security requirements.
- Operate and support servers, client systems, operating systems, applications, and network components in a classified environment.
- Transfer service‑specific technical knowledge within the assigned functional area.
- Participate in service‑related technical projects.
Monitoring, Capacity & Availability Management
- Monitor availability, performance thresholds, and resource utilization of IT services and systems to ensure compliance with defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Identify performance deviations and initiate corrective measures.
Incident, Request & Change Management
- Process incidents, service requests, and change requests in accordance with agreed service levels.
- Analyze fault reports, diagnose affected components, and coordinate corrective actions.
- Handle user inquiries via telephone related to hardware, operating systems, applications, and network issues in system and client environments.
Operational Support
- Perform operational activities in a 24/7 shift model.
- Ensure stable service delivery through proactive monitoring and structured troubleshooting.
- Document incidents, resolutions, and operational activities according to defined standards.
3. Qualifications
Language Skills
- German: C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) (Proof not required if German is the candidate's native language)
Education
- Completed vocational training as:
- IT Specialist for System Integration, or
- IT Systems Electronics Technician
- Equivalent qualifications may be accepted if they demonstrably meet the required standards.
4. Professional Experience Requirements
- At least 2 years of professional experience in monitoring client and server systems.
- At least 2 years of experience in 1st and/or 2nd level IT support.
- At least 1 year of experience working in a shift‑based operational environment.
Experience must be continuous, recent, and substantial, not sporadic or occasional.
