Job summary

ALTEN Consulting Services GmbH is seeking a Data Engineer to monitor Snowflake databases, data pipelines, and dbt transformations, ensuring data quality and production stability. You will investigate data incidents across SAP, Snowflake, and Aurora, and troubleshoot APIs and integrations while coordinating with cross-functional teams.

The role requires hands-on production troubleshooting, strong SQL/dbt skills, and experience with Git/GitLab CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Multiple years of experience in Data Engineering or technical data platform support, including hands-on production troubleshooting.
• Strong expertise in SQL, Snowflake, dbt, ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and data quality validation.
• Experience with REST APIs, OData V2, HTTP, JSON/XML, and API testing tools such as Postman.
• Familiar with Git, GitLab CI/CD, and deployment of fixes across development, test, and production environments.
• Strong analytical skills, technical ownership, and ability to collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.
• Fluent English; SAP procurement data, AWS services (S3, API Gateway, Aurora), or Python scripting is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support Snowflake databases, data pipelines, dbt transformations, and data quality processes.
• Investigate and resolve data-related incidents by tracing data flows across SAP, Snowflake, dbt, Aurora, and downstream applications.
• Troubleshoot SQL queries, transformation logic, failed dbt models, REST APIs, OData integrations, and cloud-based data provisioning processes.
• Implement, test, and deploy sustainable data-layer fixes through established CI/CD processes while ensuring production stability.
• Collaborate with development, platform, AWS, and business teams to drive end-to-end issue resolution and communicate progress transparently.
• Document root causes, corrective actions, and best practices while continuously improving monitoring, automation, and support processes.
