The role will interact with both key leadership personnel as well as day-to-day operations on a regular basis and hence require the ability to perform hands-on operational tasks as well as strategize on longer term solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead materiality assessment efforts in the topic areas of water and biodiversity related to supply chain key commodities.
  • Engage directly with suppliers on topics related to their manufacturing operations and existing water, circular materials, and biodiversity management programs
  • Develop mechanisms to collect, interpret, and analyze relevant data to monitor progress against goals, identify opportunities for improvement, and communicate success.
  • Implement high-impact programs to maximize the environmental sustainability of Tesla's supply chain.
  • Track progress against developed KPIs for overall environmental goals and create reports and presentations to help internal stakeholders understand Tesla's progress toward its goals
  • Contribute to Tesla's annual Impact Report and any external reporting on information related to supply chain water and biodiversity efforts.
  • Support supply chain engagement around greenhouse gas management topics where needed.
  • Ensure regulatory documentation is complete and ready for audits and identify where public accessibility to such documentation is mandated or preferred.
  • Document project approach, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Build and manage relationships with internal teams to facilitate engagement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Environmental Policy and/or equivalent experience or evidence of exceptional ability.
  • 3-5 years of strategic and operational supplier due diligence experience in automotive, consulting and/or tech industry.
  • Substantial knowledge of environmental protocols including CDP, Science Based Targets Network, Alliance for Water Stewardship, and GHG Protocol.

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Ability to present complex issues in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage regulatory analysis and implementation with demanding deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working across and successfully influencing multiple internal stakeholders.
