Sulzer is a leading engineering company with a proud heritage of innovation. Join our global team to grow your expertise and develop innovative solutions that enable a prosperous and more sustainable society.

As Supply Chain Development Expert, you play an essential role in increasing the competitiveness of Sulzer's Steam Turbine & Compressor Services offers by strategically managing the supplier network, monitoring market trends, and filling internal capability gaps and optimizing costs. You contribute to strengthening our services business unit and support our ambition to expand our offering portfolio of our European & African service centers.

Responsibilities:
  1. Supplier Network Development: Identify, qualify, and manage suppliers to ensure alignment with business needs, cost efficiency, and quality standards. Lead supplier evaluations, negotiations, pre-qualification processes, and ongoing development to build a robust and reliable network.
  2. Supply Chain Strategy & Optimization: Develop and implement global, regional, and local supply chain strategies to achieve “ready to serve” initiatives, close operational gaps, and balance safety, cost, and business growth. Monitor market trends, identify risks, and secure alternative solutions to minimize disruptions and improve competitiveness.
  3. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work cross-functionally with Sales, Tendering, Engineering, Operations, and other Supply Chain Managers to optimize processes and ensure seamless coordination during engineering changes, product line extensions, and new product launches. Engage suppliers early in complex projects to co-develop solutions.
  4. Performance Monitoring & Risk Management: Monitor supplier performance based on delivery time, quality, and cost. Maintain inventory strategies for critical parts and raw materials, manage supply chain risks, and ensure compliance with Sulzer's Terms & Conditions to safeguard project integrity.
  5. Cost Control & Profitability: Optimize supplier costs through standardization of typical scopes of work, continuous improvement initiatives, and strategic negotiations. Leverage supplier capabilities to fill internal gaps, enhance competitiveness, and directly contribute to increased business profitability.
  6. Freelancer & Regional Capability Development: Build and manage a network of freelancers for field and shop-based activities with standard rates. Map and leverage regional external engineering office capabilities to strengthen cooperation and expand service capacity.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Engineering Degree (preferably Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering)
  • Technical background in rotating equipment or relevant fields
  • Experience with steam turbines and compressors (advantageous)
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in French or German is a plus
  • Strong negotiation and organizational skills
  • Proactive, solution-oriented personality with strong interpersonal skills

Additional benefits include a well-renowned team of experts, personal growth potential, attractive compensation, employee assistance programs, health care, and access to corporate benefits. Note: No visa or work permit support is provided for this role.
