Job summary

INEOS Automotive, Böblingen, Germany, seeks an experienced SQE Manager to drive supplier maturity from selection through serial production, covering tools, processes and parts.

You will lead the Supplier Quality Engineering team, drive APQP/PPAP, conduct audits, manage risk, and push continuous improvement and cost-down initiatives across global suppliers.

Fluent English required; German advantageous. Travel is expected; attractive compensation and 30 days vacation offered.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree required.
  • Extensive direct experience in Supplier Quality or Manufacturing Engineering in automotive OEM or Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Strong APQP/PPAP knowledge and experience.
  • GD&T proficiency with interpretation of complex drawings.
  • Experience as a quality auditor (IATF or VDA).
  • Proven leadership of a team and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across sites and suppliers.
  • Fluent in English; German/French advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure serial production readiness of suppliers globally before vehicle launch and during serial production.
  • Lead, manage, and develop the Supplier Quality Engineering team.
  • Initiate and monitor APQP projects at suppliers (APQP).
  • Secure execution of site supplier performance audits.
  • Drive supplier development to improve product and process quality.
  • Provide supplier evaluation prior nomination and during the lifecycle; assign quality status.
  • Secure component quality during relocations, changes and re-sourcing.
  • Initiate risk assessments, FMEA reviews and on-site process analysis.
  • Identify cost-down measures through process and product analysis to support EBIT optimization.
  • Set up and run a business model for claims management including 8D reports and closure.
  • Support SCM in securing available quality parts.
  • Network with the wider INEOS organisation for leverage and know-how transfer.

Your role:

The SQE Manager is accountable for the supplier maturity from supplier selection process to serial production covering tools, production processes and equipment as well as parts.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Ensure serial production readiness of the suppliers in scope globally prior to vehicle launch, during serial production as well as spare parts production.
  • Lead, manage and develop the relevant Supplier Quality Engineering team.
  • Initiate and monitor Advanced Product Quality Planning projects at the suppliers (APQP).
  • Secure execution of site supplier performance audits.
  • Initiative and monitor supplier development projects to maintain and improve product and process quality.
  • Provide supplier evaluation prior nomination and during the whole product lifecycle, assign a specific quality status to the suppliers.
  • Secure component quality in case of supplier serial production relocations, technical changes and supplier re-sourcing.
  • Initiate risk assessments, FMEA reviews and on-site process analysis.
  • Identify and implement cost down measures through process and product analysis to support continuous EBIT optimization of INEOS.
  • Set up und run an efficient business model for claims management covering 8D reports, measure definition and monitoring as well as claim closure.
  • Support Supply Chain Management in securing availability of parts in the expected quality.
  • Network with the wider INEOS organisation to maximise group leverage possibilities and know how transfer.
  • Engineering Degree.
  • Extensive direct experience in Supplier Quality and/or Manufacturing Engineering gained at either an automotive OEM or a Tier 1 automotive supplier.
  • Technical know how about automotive components and their production methods.
  • Proven skills and experience as quality auditor (IATF or VDA).
  • In-depth understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), with the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and assess manufacturability and inspection requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the application of structured methodologies such as 8D, Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, and statistical problem-solving techniques.
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proven ability to drive cost for non-quality.
  • Proven track record of leading a team and be able to build effective working relationships internally and externally.
  • Able to demonstrate direct knowledge of automotive supplier quality management from concept-through-industrialisation-to-operation.
  • Experience in development and implementation of process models in alignment with internal stakeholders.
  • Experience in leading cross functional change management projects.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a track record of delivery.
  • Strong intercultural behaviour skills.
  • Demonstrable ability to prioritise tasks and have effective time management and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken). German and/or French are advantageous.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including regular visits to suppliers and manufacturing sites.
