A national weather organization is seeking a Supervisory Meteorologist to manage weather forecast services and ensure application of scientific advances. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science, administrative experience, and expertise in meteorological forecasting. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to NASA projects.
This position is located in the National Weather Service (NWS), Spaceflight Meteorology Group (SMG) with one vacancy in Houston, TX. SMG provides meteorological support to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at Johnson Space Center on a number of different projects including human space exploration, research and commercial space service.

EDUCATION:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. This includes overseeing meteorological/hydrological forecasting or service programs and evaluating scientific/technological advances in an operational weather forecast environment.
For GS-14 level: one full year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-13 includes overseeing a meteorological/hydrological forecasting, warning or service program and supporting evaluation of advances in an operational forecast environment.
Education substitutions are not applicable to this vacancy. Foreign education may be used if equivalent to U.S. education and recognized by an accrediting organization.
