The Payroll Supervisor/Lead is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely operations and reporting activities, including biweekly payroll processing, system administration, pay and taxation adjustments and calculations, tax filings, pay disbursements, and record retention. This position will report directly to the Sr. Regional Payroll Manager.

  • Supervise the payroll operations in Germany and Austria, ensuring timely monthly payments and accurate accounting.
  • Coordinate and manage the entire payroll system, ensuring legislative compliance and conduct regular audits as needed.
  • Support internal processes, including month-end support, annual leave reports, and assisting in quarter- and year-end closings.
  • Liaise with pension funds, social security agencies, insurance companies, tax authorities, and handle internal, external, and statutory audits.
  • Lead the payroll team with guidance, serving as the main contact for managers regarding salary, tax issues or any escalations.
  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure timely resolution of any inquiries. Given the nature of this role, this person is expected to be detail-oriented and demonstrate strong operational and analytical skills.
  • Must be a team player and will collaborate with all team members in the HR Department, as well as with other departments on different initiatives and day-to-day tasks.
  • Collaborate with the group's global mobility team to ensure all benefit data for assignees are captured.
  • Ensure all payroll related data (employee personal data changes, payroll taxes, stock-based compensation, global mobility charges) are processed and uploaded within deadlines, collaborating with accounting to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure that registrations / de-registrations for benefits (social security, pension fund, family allowance, maternity/paternity leave, long-term sickness / accidents) are performed in a timely fashion and that the resulting data is captured and processed in payroll.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for payroll services provider and be responsible for final approval of monthly payroll, and invoices for associated benefits and social insurances.
  • Assist with reviewing and updating policies related to Payroll, ensuring compliance with the Group requirements (SOX, etc.).
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding of employees from a payroll perspective, including support for international assignees.
Your ideal background:
  • 4-6 years of payroll supervisory experience. Full understanding of end-to-end payroll process. Preferably in an international setting.
  • Good knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Working experience of payroll tax at local levels.
  • Experience in payroll processing for 4000+ employees.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • PLUS: Proficient in accounting, finance, and software like MS Office, Oracle, and ADP; problem-solving and attention to detail is essential.
  • PLUS: Proficient with different payroll software’s
  • PLUS: Full understanding of expat payrolls and processes.
  • PLUS: Leading implementations and projects.
  • Fluent in English and German.
