The role :

This Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Sales Support role at Lonza offers an outstanding opportunity to influence large-scale projects, strengthen the sales pipeline, and pursue ambitious growth prospects. Collaborating with sales teams, this role focuses on acquiring and expanding high-value accounts in Cell Biology and Transfection.

The role involves gathering and communicating key market trends, competitive activities, and customer insights to inform strategic decisions and enhance Lonza's market position.

This position is ideal for individuals eager to drive initiatives that elevate sales and possess a proven track record of enhancing customer engagement and success.

Please note that this role will require 50% travel.

Key responsibilities :
  1. Develop lasting relationships with customers and key collaborators.
  2. Act as a trusted adviser, facilitating deal closure through consultative selling.
  3. Represent the company at conferences, symposia, and webinars.
  4. Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities within customer workflows.
  5. Address complex technical inquiries for strategic accounts, providing innovative solutions and resolving blocking issues.
  6. Support field technical activities for Cell Biology and Transfection product lines as needed.
  7. Provide specialised training, co-travel support, and technical expertise to empower the sales team to win key accounts and increase market share.
  8. Lead sales campaigns, deliver product demonstrations, installations, and customer training to secure new business.
  9. Equip sales teams with tools, insights, and training to enhance performance.
  10. Align sales collateral, messaging, and go-to-market strategies with market demands.
Key requirements :
  1. Strong academic background, preferably in a scientific field.
  2. Experience and knowledge in cell culture, primary cells, molecular biology, transfection, and the biotech / biopharma industry, including drug discovery and development.
  3. Familiarity with drug discovery, drug manufacturing, Cell & Gene Therapy, and the biotech / biopharma sectors.
  4. Sales and/or technical support experience.
  5. Effective communication skills and successful cross-functional collaboration.
