Jobbeschreibung

Job Description - Student for master's thesis - GenAI and NLP based processing of non-functional Requirements (MER0003O5R)

Job Description

Student for master's thesis - GenAI and NLP based processing of non-functional Requirements Group : Mercedes-Benz Group AG

Description

In the body in white production engineering, we are responsible for the design, construction, and ramp-up of our production lines within the stamp shop, body shop, and paint shop. This involves integrating new vehicles from R&D and managing constraints from our factories. Currently, this involves planning with high uncertainty, modeling complex scenarios, and handling various constraints and non-functional requirements.

Our goal is to develop a system to handle these constraints and requirements efficiently and to enhance existing AI technologies by adding semantic understanding.

Your thesis will focus on improving these AI capabilities with domain-specific knowledge to increase precision and user interaction efficiency.

Project Steps
  1. Identify relevant AI technologies
  2. Identify design decisions in production planning that trigger constraints and requirements
  3. Apply semantic technology stacks to requirements and constraints
  4. Develop methodologies for describing machine-readable NFRs
  5. Create routines for validating constraints (e.g., Is constraint X valid for product part Y in project Z?)
  6. Implement and deploy within a UI or digital twin

You will build on existing research and collaborate with an ongoing doctorate project. Initiative and innovation are encouraged, including challenging the status quo.

The final thesis selection will be made in consultation with you, the university, and us. The master thesis can start from September 2025.

Qualifications
  • Studies in IT, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related field with an IT focus. For engineers, relevant IT experience is required.
  • Experience with LLMs, semantic mapping, ontologies, knowledge graphs, digital twins, and handling non-functional requirements.
  • Proficient in English; German skills are a bonus.
  • Enjoys varied tasks, quick comprehension, independent and structured work, and good communication skills.
