As a student, you will engage in interdisciplinary projects, develop methods, and implement software solutions to enhance data management in various applications. At the Institute of Data Science in Jena, we are working on the data backbone for all DLR application areas (aviation, space, energy, transportation, security). To this end, we develop and research methods in interdisciplinary work with a focus on applications such as sustainable and circular processes, resilient supply chains, data-driven value chains, or robust decision support. The methods developed are applied in cooperation with other DLR institutes and external partners, either as part of joint projects or technology transfer activities.
We offer you the opportunity to complete a thesis, a compulsory internship, or a student job in the areas of semantic process and data description, and (meta-)data management. As part of an international team, you will develop methods and software solutions for future data management systems. You will analyze and develop your own methods, software, or models to improve data management in scientific or industrial use cases, as part of projects like ASPIRO, Aerospace-X, COOPERANTS, and MaTiC-M. Possible topics include metadata model development, automated metadata collection or preparation, quality assurance, and utilizing semantic information in web-based user interfaces.
