Ocumeda is looking for a Staff Software Engineer (m/f/d) to own the architecture of a full-stack platform, spanning frontend, backend, data and AWS. You will shape the platform under real product pressure, drive testing strategy, and push for guardrails that keep faster delivery safe.

You will work across the stack and collaborate with product to surface pragmatic solutions. You have 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, strong TypeScript skills, and a product-focused

• Own the architecture of the full-stack platform – frontend, backend, data, AWS.
• Own our testing strategy: unit, integration and end-to-end coverage; manage trade-offs.
• Push engineering practices to be fast yet safe with guardrails and testing discipline.
• Shape scope with product: surface the cheap 80% solution and avoid unnecessary work.
• Build systems that are operable and auditable by design (ISO 27001/13485) without extra paperwork.
• Fix scaling bottlenecks or broken integrations with proper, durable solutions.

Your role at Ocumeda

As StaffSoftware Engineer (m/f/d)you are the engineer who makes hard, unclear or broken things tractable. You know how our platform works end to end and you shape it as you go. Your focus is our full-stack platform: the web application our doctors, our optician partners, and their customers use daily, and the services behind it.

• Own the architecture of our full-stack platform – frontend, backend, data, AWS – and evolve it under real product pressure instead of rewriting it
• Own our testing strategy: where we invest in unit, integration and end-to-end coverage, what we deliberately do not test, and how tests stay fast enough that nobody skips them
• Push our agentic coding practice forward: tooling, guardrails and testing discipline that make us faster without putting unverified code into a live product
• Shape scope together with product: surface the cheap 80 % solution, and say clearly when something is not worth building
• Build so that what ships is operable and auditable by design (e.g. ISO 27001, ISO 13485), without turning engineering into paperwork
• Go wherever the problem is – a scaling bottleneck one week, a broken integration the next – you fix it properly

What makes you a great fit

• Several years of professional software engineering experience (roughly 7+), most of it on systems that reached real users
• Deeply hands‑on across the stack: strong in the frontend, at home in the backend, comfortable in the infrastructure and web technologies around it
• A strong background in TypeScript, and well‑formed opinions you can defend and revise
• A clear product focus: you care about what ships, what runs, and what users experience
• You speak fluent English (C1); German is a plus
