Role Responsibilities: What you'll do

• Lead high-impact and large-scale technical projects across the tribe and domains
• Mentor engineers across the tribe, participate in hiring processes, and raise the engineering bar
• Drive high-performing teams and foster collaboration
• Identify and tackle new areas or common problems within your tribe
• Share knowledge internally and promote Personio externally through blogging and conference participation

• Our teams are organized in a mission-based, cross-functional manner, collaborating with Engineers, Designers, Product Managers, and Domain Leaders
• Our backend components are built with Kotlin, JVM, and Golang, dockerized, and deployed on Kubernetes on AWS
• Our development and deployment processes are fully automated
• We foster a “you built it, you run it” culture

Role Requirements: What you need to succeed

• Previous experience as a Staff Engineer or Principal
• Expertise in designing, developing, and operating business-critical distributed systems at scale
• Experience in building technical strategies and driving them across multiple teams
• Strong communication skills for technical guidance and leadership
• Ability to navigate technical debates and align teams
• Proven experience in hiring, mentoring, and developing engineering talent
• Passion for enabling others and being a force multiplier
• Willingness to work hands-on on complex, high-impact problems
