We are recruiting for a field-based

(Sr) Medical Science Liaison Rare Diseases / Friedreich Ataxie (FA) (f/m/d) - Northern Germany

About This Role:
The (Sr) Medical Science Liaison Rare Diseases / FA (f/m/d) provides field-based medical / scientific expertise and is integral to building valued constructive partnerships with key stakeholders in medical community and the healthcare system. The incumbent contributes to internal and external medical education, information exchange and support while gathering medical insights and supporting research / data generation initiatives.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide field-based medical scientific support to KMEs and PAGs in Germany
  • Develop and hold medical scientific presentations and leads discussions with experts
  • Support and execute medical education activities and medical scientific projects in collaboration with medical scientific community
  • Disseminate high quality complex scientific information and provide innovative medical education content
  • Work with local patient organizations to educate about the disease area and advances in patient care
  • Support therapeutic experts in developing concepts and protocols for SRAs / IITs / registries that support orphan drug therapies
  • Appropriately interact and collaborate with other internal functions (e.g. sales, market access or pharmacovigilance
  • Support and execute internal education and training on disease area and treatment
  • Mentor for new colleagues
  • Stay up to date with therapy advances, current research, medical scientific knowledge and detailed knowledge on Biogen products & relevant Disease Areas
  • Understand the current status and identify opportunities for evolving standards of care in Rare Diseases
  • Supports communication around expanded access programs (EAPs) for therapies under development.


Who You Are:
The ideal candidate for this role should be a highly knowledgeable medical expert with a deep understanding of relevant therapeutic areas and products. She / he needs to be used to managing cross-functional collaborations while staying updated on scientific data and innovations. Strong communication skills are essential for effectively sharing complex medical information and engaging with Key Medical Experts and other stakeholders.

Required Skills:

  • Academic medical or life science qualification (M.D., Ph.D. or Pharm.D. preferred)
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience including work in pharmaceutical industry including field-based positions
  • An insight and/or interest in rare diseases, neuromuscular diseases or neurology is essential
  • Willingness to travel and cover the assigned territory
  • Strong customer orientation and proven track record in KME interactions
  • Working knowledge of Regulatory Affairs, Drug Safety, Market Access, Legal and compliance environment
  • Willingness to work and collaborate in a cross-functional team
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills, scientific and non-scientific
  • Pro-active self-starter and independent team worker
  • Flexible and open mind-set towards change and evolving standars
  • High energy level and able to deal with stress.
  • Fluent in German and English
