A little bit about our team:

The U.S. Shared Services Publishing Licensing Team provides rights assessment and other licensing related administrative services to each of Warner’s U.S. record labels, along with those labels and affiliates based outside the U.S. that wish to release records or recordings in the U.S. The Licensing Team is responsible for negotiating and securing mechanical licenses from music publishers and paying those copyright owners the corresponding rates, advances, fees, and other royalties in an accurate and timely manner. The Sr. Licensing Administrator will be reporting to the Sr. Licensing Manager of Frontline labels and work closely with the Licensing Administrators to meet all deadlines and reach team goals.

Members of the Publishing Licensing Team work closely with Publishing Royalties, A&R Admin, Business & Legal Affairs, Data Operations, Finance, Production, and Marketing & Promotions at each label to fulfill the above-referenced responsibilities.

Your role:

The Sr. Licensing Administrator will have the unique opportunity to work at the most progressive record companies in the music industry. In this role, you will have the opportunity to help develop and maintain business solutions for the Frontline Licensing Team, establish relationships with music publishers, and collaborate with various business units at Atlantic Music Group, Warner Records, and U.S. Shared Services.

Here you’ll get to:

  • Manage the Frontline Licensing Team’s internal schedules by reviewing production schedules published by each Frontline label;
  • Delegate new releases to team members in order to manage priorities and workload;
  • Work with label counterparts to obtain artist recording agreements, producer agreements, sample confirmations, label copy and more;
  • Analyze royalty provisions in recording, producer, songwriter, and publishing agreements;
  • Respond to inquiries from music publishers and other music publishing rights administrators regarding licensing and clearances;
  • Review and approve system entries by team members to ensure the relevant clearances, rate calculations and publisher ownerships are set up accurately in WMG’s internal copyright system;
  • Assist team members in problem solving and provide support to the Licensing team;
  • Build and maintain relationships with songwriters and publishers;
  • Effectively partner with key label stakeholders across the frontline labels;
  • Train all new hires who join the team;
  • Assist team members in managing the licensing of all frontline releases and assist in obtaining supporting agreements and resolving split disputes; and
  • Perform any other duties and tasks related to the Department’s role and responsibilities that might be assigned by the Senior Manager.
  • You work well independently and as part of a team;
  • You have strong computer skills, including strong data entry and data analysis skills (with an emphasis on accuracy and problem-solving);
  • You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • You demonstrate excellent analytical, mathematical and organizational skills and have exceptional attention to detail;
  • You have multitasking abilities with the capacity to manage a high volume of initiatives, prioritize effectively, and execute multiple projects under tight deadlines; and
  • You manage multiple assignments at any given time and prioritize them effectively and appropriately.

We’d love it if you also had:

  • Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited university, preferably in Music Business or Entertainment Law;
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong profiency using Microsoft and Google applications;
  • Proven success in managing large sets of data;
  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience working in a position(s) involving the administration of mechanical or other publishing royalties and/or copyright law.
