Seeking an experienced Sr Applied Scientist! In this role, you will apply the latest research trends to solve real-world problems. You will collaborate with a team of scientists and engineers to build innovative applications. We are looking for scientists interested in using diverse domain expertise to invent, design, and implement state-of-the-art solutions for unprecedented challenges.
Key job responsibilities
- Research, design, implement, and evaluate complex perception, motion planning, and decision-making algorithms integrating multiple disciplines and leveraging machine learning.
- Create experiments and prototype implementations of new learning algorithms and prediction techniques.
- Work closely with software engineering teams to develop scalable, real-time implementations.
- Collaborate with machine learning and robotic controls experts to deploy algorithms, including machine learning models.
- Partner with hardware engineering teams from prototyping to production.
- Represent Amazon in academia through publications and scientific presentations.
- Engage with stakeholders across hardware, science, and operations teams to refine system design and implementation.
Preferred expertise
- Computer vision (tracking, object recognition, visual SLAM, motion prediction, reconstruction)
- Machine learning (reinforcement learning, supervised learning, Bayesian methods, online learning, ML for robotics)
Qualifications
- PhD in engineering, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics, or related fields.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C#, Python.
- Experience in robotics, computer vision, machine learning, sensors, real-time systems, embedded systems, distributed systems, or simulation.
- Extensive experience with hardware and robot simulators.
- Experience in publishing at major conferences or journals in related fields.
- Proven ability to develop and deploy AI systems in manufacturing automation.
- Strong communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts clearly.
- Experience mentoring or leading junior engineers.
- Experience in interdisciplinary development involving hardware, software, and algorithms.
- Proven track record in turning ideas into production-ready technology.
- Knowledge of core computer science concepts and algorithms.
- Critical thinking and excellent presentation skills.
