Job Description:
Major Function

The Sponsored Programs Coordinator is responsible for monitoring and maintaining grant and contract accounts received from federal, state, and private funding sources. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with accounting principles, regulations, award terms, and college policies; assisting and training faculty and staff; reviewing program reports; participating in monitoring activities; approving purchases; and preparing financial reports and invoices.

Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Serving as a liaison between departments and funding agencies, coordinating efforts and resolving issues related to grants and contracts.
  • Promoting compliance with federal and state laws, reviewing awards, verifying expenditures, and ensuring proper use of funds.
  • Handling invoicing activities, preparing financial reports, and monitoring grant expenditures.
  • Performing grant closeout functions, including reconciliations and final reporting.
  • Conducting grant monitoring to ensure compliance and making recommendations.

Minimum training/experience: A high school diploma and seven years of professional experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or grant management, or an equivalent combination. A bachelor’s degree in related fields is preferred and may substitute for some experience. Preference for candidates with Workday experience.

Successful applicants will demonstrate: Knowledge of grant regulations, organizational skills, communication skills, proficiency with computer software, budgeting, presentation skills, ability to travel, and effective interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects is essential.
