Specialist Sustainability Metrics & LCIA (f/m/x)

• Co-Defining/ designing, modelling sustainability metrics, conducting Life Cycle Impact Assessments and presenting results to internal and external stakeholders.
• Modelling and simulating processes, material and energy flows of production and product systems.
• Fulfilling requirements of mandatory and voluntary LCIA/ sustainability standards (e.g., GHG protocol) and achieving positive audit outcomes.
• Serving as the point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding LCIA and related standards and certifications.
• Defining LCIA data governance processes according to regulations and norms, and developing compliant reporting formats for the Carl Zeiss Group.
• Advising, supporting, and training internal teams within the scope of the segment sustainability strategy; co-defining KPIs, objectives, and targets for product categories in line with this strategy.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, chemical, etc.) or life sciences (biology, chemistry, environmental sciences, etc.), or bachelor's with additional R&D experience.
• Minimum two years of LCIA practitioner experience in consultancy or a comparable role, preferably in a multi-site industrial or medical technology company, with practical project management experience and interaction with auditors.
• Expertise in LCIA standards and guidelines (ISO 14040/14044, ISO 14067, PEF, EPDs, EMAS, EcoLabel) and proficiency in LCIA calculations and KPI generation using LCIA tools.
• Familiarity with GHG accounting, life cycle assessment, and environmental management standards.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build cross-functional relationships.
• Self-driven, motivated, organized, team-oriented, passionate about sustainability.
• Fluent in English and German, with excellent communication skills and willingness to travel.
