If you answered yes, we invite you to seize the opportunity to make a significant impact as a Spacecraft Operations Engineer. We are seeking dynamic and experienced individuals to contribute to ESA Earth Explorer missions such as CryoSat-2, Swarm, Biomass, Flex, Forum, and others.

In line with security requirements for this position, candidates must hold European citizenship. Evidence of eligibility will be required during recruitment. Additionally, all potential employees will undergo reference and identity checks due to the sensitive nature of the work.

What you'll do

  • Support spacecraft operations preparation and execution, including:
    • Design support and reviews.
    • Development of Flight Operations segments, including backup control center.
    • Coordination, preparation, and execution of system tests.
    • Development and maintenance of Flight Operations Procedures, databases, and tools for all mission phases, including LEOP, commissioning, and routine operations.
    • Preparation and management of OBSM.
    • Mission planning.
    • Real-time operations during LEOP, commissioning, and routine phases.
  • Develop and supervise automated operations.
  • Provide on-call support and handle anomalies.
  • Analyze spacecraft performance and generate reports.
  • Maintain, coordinate, and validate ground segment upgrades.

What we are looking for

  • A Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Telecommunications, Physics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in Earth observation mission operations and/or preparation.
  • Expertise in ground segment systems validation.
  • Proficiency in SCOS2000 or similar spacecraft control systems; knowledge of EGS-CC is a plus.
  • Experience with operational simulators and mission planning systems.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • Eligible and willing to handle export-controlled information.
