We are seeking a Software (Technical) Support Engineer to join our team in Dresden, Germany, supporting our CGA-based process tools.

Your key responsibilities:

  1. Software system troubleshooting: analyze reported problems, validate solutions, develop troubleshooting plans to identify root causes, and deliver rapid resolutions for systemic issues (Microsoft Server, Network Topology, Applications).
  2. Software installation and imaging: install and configure software and images for Early Learning Shipments (ELS), New Product Introductions (NPI), and First In Fab tools (FIF); document and perform first-of-kind installs on High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) tools; develop and train on software procedures.
  3. Software testing and validation: collect and incorporate customer-specific test scenarios, construct simulators for testing and troubleshooting, execute test plans to validate software releases.
  4. Create, test, and verify installation and upgrade instructions for Applied Materials product releases.
  5. Investigate and resolve internal and external application and system issues, including high-value customer problems and systematic software bugs or failures.
  6. Customer engagement and training: foster trust, consult on Factory Automation scenarios, resolve tool operation questions, and provide ongoing training to customers and customer engineers.
  7. Assist in analyzing customer OS performance, system integration, and database management issues; deliver updates and reports to management and partners.

Your education and experience:

  • A degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of professional experience in software testing, test case documentation, and network technology preferred.
  • Strong English communication skills; German skills beneficial.
  • A team player willing to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to explain complex information straightforwardly.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% within Europe and to the US headquarters.
