Role Summary

Are you interested in software, particularly AI applications, and want to work for a global NGO with a great mission? As a Software Specialist with AI Focus, you will help ensure that our approximately 250 colleagues worldwide have access to the best AI solutions and can use them efficiently and securely. You will play a key role in selecting and utilizing software, including AI solutions, while maintaining an overview of our diverse international software landscape, with a strong focus on IT security and compliance. You will become an essential member of our eight-person IT team and collaborate closely with our two Software Specialists.

Job Details

• Reports to: Senior International IT Specialist
• Department: INT IT
• Working hours: 30-40 hours per week
• Location: Berlin (or remote within Germany)

Responsibilities

• AI Strategy Development: You will support the further development of our AI strategy, roadmap, and policies to ensure that our organization can fully leverage the potential of AI solutions. This includes keeping track of the software currently in use at ProVeg and the most important projects our international teams are implementing with it.
• Market and Technology Monitoring: You will stay up to date on the latest trends, developments, and best practices in software and artificial intelligence and assess their applicability to ProVeg.
• Knowledge Transfer: You will ensure that all colleagues have a strong understanding of the capabilities, limitations, and risks of our software and AI applications. You will develop online courses, workshops, and wiki pages to facilitate learning.
• Expert Role: You will enable individual teams to use our software—including its AI functions—optimally for their specific application scenarios. You will also advise leadership teams and our works council on the opportunities and risks of AI.
• System Selection and Implementation: You will select the best AI and software solutions for various use cases and ensure smooth implementation and integration with other systems in collaboration with relevant departments.
• IT Security and Data Protection: With a strong focus on IT security and data protection, you will work closely with our internal data protection coordination team to minimize risks and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

Required:

• You have a Master’s degree in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) or equivalent qualifications through education or training.
• You have a solid understanding of artificial intelligence and experience with various AI applications.
• You are passionate about software and can quickly familiarize yourself with new software solutions.
• Youcommunicate fluently in English and German, both in writing and speaking.
• You work in a structured and pragmatic manner.
• You enjoy learning new things and continuously improving processes.
• You are passionate about transforming the global food system sustainably and identify with the goals and values of ProVeg.

Nice to have:

• Experience in software training, documentation, or support.
• Experience in project management.
• Basic knowledge of IT security, data protection, software development, and APIs (REST-APIs).
