ABOUT THE CLIENT

Our client is the leading pet registration platform across North America, partnering with over 250 jurisdictions. Their mission-driven technology consolidates pet information into a single system and offers services for pet owners, community members, and shelters, including registration, lost pet alerts, an AI-powered pet tracker, and an upcoming mobile app for pet parenting—all aimed at ensuring pets have safe, happy homes. JOB DESCRIPTION:

The platform features an online licensing system, branded web experience, real-time reporting, fulfillment, customer service, and pet-owner services. This role focuses on enhancing the Pet Owner Experience by redesigning and implementing the client’s design framework across a modern front-end architecture. The Engineering Manager will lead a team of internal and third-party engineers, collaborating with Product and Design teams to deliver accessible, user-centric, and high-performing features. The role reports to the Director of Software Engineering and involves working with cross-functional teams to implement best practices across the stack.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the technical vision and roadmap for the Pet Owner Experience team.
• Champion user-first design and collaborate with Product Design to implement accessible, high-quality UI components.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of internal and third-party engineers.
• Support technical specifications, architecture visualization, and implementation.
• Collaborate with Product Managers on features, technical strategy, and sprint planning.
• Prioritize tasks based on research and customer feedback to improve user experience.
• Manage the full software lifecycle: planning, development, quality, and delivery.
• Foster innovation and continuous improvement.
• Partner with engineering leadership to enhance team culture and processes.

Minimum Requirements:

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years as a full-stack or web engineer.
• 3+ years in engineering leadership.
• Expertise with reactive front-end frameworks or server-driven UI stacks (e.g., Symfony UX, Laravel Livewire).
• 3+ years working with design systems (Tailwind CSS + Figma preferred).
• Strong experience with relational databases (MySQL, MariaDB).
• Familiarity with RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA.
• Proven track record of delivering complex projects with impact.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to balance coding with team management.
• Strong ownership and problem-solving skills.
