As a Software Engineer at Zalando Payments, you will build and operate systems that handle payment card transactions. You will collaborate with other engineers in the Payment Cards team to ensure our services operate smoothly and reliably at each processing step, from authentication to settlement. You will also drive new feature implementation, contribute to process improvements, and bring new ideas and technologies to the team.

Responsibilities

1. Drive business-critical projects that influence payment card processing and enable new use cases.
2. Design, develop, deploy, operate, and improve software solutions using state-of-the-art technologies.
3. Collaborate with the product team and stakeholders to understand business context.
4. Be part of an agile team, taking ownership of the entire development cycle from architecture and design to testing, implementation, and maintenance.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of microservice architecture, REST services, event-based systems, and API design to build scalable solutions.
• At least 3 years of experience developing with Java and Spring Boot framework.
• Good understanding of SQL (preferably PostgreSQL) and cloud architectures/platforms; prior experience with AWS is a plus.
• Familiarity with financial regulations such as ZAIT, DORA, PSD2, and PCI DSS is advantageous.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage projects with many dependencies.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team, incorporating feedback and ideas into software design.
